What a night. Pierre and I are both grumpy after a highly unsettled night. The cupboard doors would swing open on each wave, emptying the contents and then bang through the night. I got up to close them 4 times, Pierre another 4 times. Our stuff will NOT stay where it’s put. Getting very irritating. Have to get out of the room again. For the first time I’m getting the feeling that it will be good to get off this ocean. The feeling doesn’t last long though.
It was virtualy impossible to go outside without getting soaked and/or falling down stairs/ getting whipped by the wind so taking a breath is challenging. So filming is out of the question and photography - limited.
…Had a rather challenging shower again. The water moves with the sway of the ship and so does the shower curtain. May have picked up a new bruise.
…The storm has passed. It’s so much warmer. We can go outside without dressing up in 10 layers of clothing. It’s a good feeling to be able to move freely without feeling like a penguin.
We were sitting chatting after dinner and something was different. It took me a moment to figure out it was. The sun had set and it was getting dark. Soon it was properly dark – real night time with stars and everything! We haven’t seen that in a week. Quite an incredible feeling. Further south at this moment, there are penguins bathed in light, determinedly stealing pebbles from each other.
