Argh! Too much. I’ve never seen anything so incredible. We’ve been headed for Paulet island just off the peninsula and the ice is everywhere. Rather bizarrely we’re in the midst of pack ice, which wasn’t reported here 3 days ago.
We woke to beautiful sunshine and still waters and have spent all morning getting it all on film. Unfortunately there’s too much ice for us to get through so we’ve just had to turn around and head back the way we came.
It sounds like we’re going to try the other side of the peninsula - so no landing again today which is a slight disappointment. But wow, the views! Adelie penguins dotted on iceflows, an occasional crabeater seal and one enormous leopard seal. Really, really the most incredible scene.

The size of this chunk of ice! We’re dwarfed by it.
